SEWERAGE PROJECT UPDATE

PARRA committee member, Ann Edwards, has relentlessly kept residents informed as to the appalling state of the roads following the work carried out by the contractor, appointed by the Ndlambe Municipality, to install new sewerage pipes.

And this week on behalf of PARRA she delivered a very strong letter to Director Vithi-Masiza, with a copy to the Municipal Manager, Adv Dumezweni, accompanied by dozens of photographs, illustrating the state of the affected roads, manhole covers higher than the road surface, G5 and asphalt already washed away, damage to residents’ driveways and property, excess sand and rubble just left by the side of the roads and highlighted that work started in August 2024 had still not been completed.

Following receipt of our letter Director Vithi finally took a tour of the areas concerned and whilst she said she was unhappy with the workmanship and agreed residents were not being unreasonable, she felt the Municipality is being lambasted unfairly!

However, it has been agreed that Work Packages 5 (Broadway) and Work Package 2 (Southdowns) will be delayed by a week in order for the Contractor to make the repairs on Work Package 1. We will be keeping a close eye on the repairs.

PARRA will continue to monitor the work on behalf of residents and reports will be posted for members to read on the PARRA website:  www.parra.org.za
